Downs Ladies Off To Flying Start In CAFWCL COSAFA Qualifiers

Posted on August 22, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies started their 2025 CAFWCL COSAFA Qualifiers with a thumping 3-0 win over Ntopa FC at AW Muller Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Banyana piled pressure on the visitors from the onset, and it was no surprise as they took the lead 15 minutes in from Refilwe Tholakele who headed home from close range after Lebohang Ramalepe whipped in a cross.

Tholakele almost grabbed her brace in the 23rd minute but saw her shot come off the crossbar before missing yet again moments later in what could’ve been her hat-trick of the afternoon.

In the 43rd minute, Tholakele finally made her chance count slotting in for her second as Banyana Ba Style went into the break 2-0 up.

It was 3-0 in the 54th minute through substitute Nthabiseng Majiya but Isabella Ludwig then blasted her effort into the stands when it could’ve been number four.

Godfrey Sapula’s charges dominated possession throughout the match and remained resolute at the back to come away with maximum points.
