Doctor – This Chiefs Star Deserved To Be With Bafana

Posted on November 15, 2025

Legendary Doctor Khumalo believes that Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen deserves to have earned a Bafana Bafana nod for the Zambia friendly.

It’s just over a month before AFCON kicks off in Morocco and Bafana coach Hugo Broos named his squad for the international friendly against Zambia this coming weekend.

Following a fantastic season Petersen is having at Chiefs, he has kept seven clean sheets in the Betway Premiership and is currently the best in the league.

Speaking to Andile Ncube, Khumalo believes that Petersen should’ve been included in the squad for the upcoming friendly.

“You can’t select a player that is not performing, you select based on performances at the club and the last seven games it was clean sheet for Petersen only when they played now against Orbit College, he conceded one after seven clean sheets,” ’16V’ said on the DNA podcast.

“He was threatening Itu’s record. He really deserved the nod, but the question would be there are players that has scored crucial goals for their teams but still they are not selected, [Tshegofatso] Mabasa and [Bradley] Grobler.

“The person to probably address this situation is the coach himself.”
