Doc Praises Chiefs Star – iDiski Times

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has praised Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen for having made the goalkeeping position his own and coming up with another great performance against ZESCO United.

The Glamour Boys collected an important 1-0 win over the Zambian side to move to seven points from four games in their CAF Confederations Cup group.

With Zamalek on eight points and Al Masry on seven like Chiefs, they now have their fate of qualifying for the knockout stages in their own hands – first facing Al Masry on Sunday before traveling to Zamalek next week.

Khumalo complimented Petersen for his fine performance but also praised the Amakhosi coaches for giving the 31-year-old the confidence to shine.

“I need to say congratulations to the boys, because I know it’s not easy, especially when you play in this kind of tournament, the CAF Confederations Cup,” he said on SABC1.

“We’ve got a couple of players, when we started [the competition] against Al Masry, the very same coach alluded to the fact that most Kaizer Chiefs players they don’t have this experience to play in this CAF tournament, but then it’s work in progress.

“And I’m looking at the goalkeeping department, and they’ve finally found a keeper that is doing so well. Hence, I’m saying these coaches what they’ve done so far, they’ve found a keeper that will be the keeper for Chiefs.

“Without any doubt, the game is teacher, we saw how Petersen saved the goal.”

Chiefs will now face Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday before hosting Al Masry at Peter Mokoba Stadium on Sunday.
