Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has again refuted claims that Amakhosi perform better in Nasreddine Nabi’s absence, saying the technical team speak to the head coach every day.
The Glamour Boys started the 2025/26 with two wins from two matches, beating Stellenbosch FC 2-0 away from home before collecting a 1-0 win over Polokwane City at FNB Stadium – both games without Nabi who had to travel to his home country after his wife was involved in an accideent.
With Chiefs returning to FNB on Tuesday, Youssef insisted Nabi’s absence has no effect on the team’s performances, as he is still involved in the preparation and planning.
“I think if the coach is here or is not here… we are technical staff, all of us we are familiar, we work together, we keep contact every day,” Nabi’s assistant stated.
“Every training session we discuss, we meet via zoom with the technical staff to discuss all the plans.
“We prepare the team together. Yes, physically coach Nabi is not here but he’s with us, we work together, we are a team.
“We help each other, and we don’t think about who is not here, who is here – all technical staff work together.”
Chiefs host the Natal Rich Boys, who lost both their games so far, at 19:30 at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
