Orlando Pirates without talented midfielder for Sekhukhune match

Orlando Pirates have some big decisions to make on certain players in the coming months.

One player whose future is uncertain is midfielder Kabelo Dlamini. The 29-year-old attacker has made just nine appearances for the Buccaneers across all competitions this season, making two assists.

Reports indicate that the talented playmaker is nursing an injury, but even if he recovers before the season ends, he might not get gametime.

“Even with the injury, he could be leaving Pirates at the end of the season,” a source revealed to KickOff.

“I believe he has already discussed the issue with his agent.”

Dlamini joined Orlando Pirates from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2018 and went on to make close to 200 appearances for the Soweto giants. In his eight years at the club, he scored 21 goals and assisted 23 times.

The midfielder’s contract is expiring end of June but he might sign a pre-contract with any other PSL team. One top team Dlamini is linked with is Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi have signed two ex-Bucs players as free agents before the start of the current season.

Orlando Pirates might reconsider Mabasa

Tshegofatso Mabasa started the season at Pirates but the new head coach Abdeslam Ouaadou opted to play Evicence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma ahead of him.

In the nine appearances he made for the Buccaneers, the 29-year-old striker netted four times including in the MTN8 final.

In January, Mabasa made a move to Stellenbosch FC on loan and has since impressed, netting three times.

A run of good form with the Cape Winelands might force Orlando Pirates to reconsider, given their lack of goals from their strikers. Mabasa is a fan favourite and has always delivered up front when needed.

If Mbuthuma and Makgopa fire blanks, then Mabasa might return and extend his stay.

Should Mabasa return to Pirates
