Posted on October 27, 2025

Orlando Pirates have a challenging schedule on the horizon. After Caf Champions League heartbreak, they must get back on the horse.

First, they meet Magesi in the Telkom Knockout, then it’s a league battle with Sundowns.

Here are the key details.

Orlando Pirates news: Saleng, a new enemy in Soweto

Orlando Pirates need to live up to their ‘cup specialists’ tag

The Sea Robbers square up with Magesi in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals on Tuesday, 28 October. Kickoff is at 19:30. Then there’s a titanic tussle with champions Sundowns in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, 1 November at 15:30. Both matches will be aired on DStv Channel 202.

Does Broos have beef with Mabasa?

It seems clear now that there’s a personal issue between prolific Pirates marksman Tshegofatso Mabasa and Bafana boss Hugo Broos. Evidence Makgopa is now a regular in Broos’ squads, but 2023-2024 PSL Golden Boot winner Mabasa is out in the cold. The 29-year-old has already scored in three separate competitions for the Sea Robbers this term.

Champions League heartbreak for Orlando Pirates

The Sea Robbers have been dumped out of the CAF Champions League at the preliminary stage by minnows Saint-Éloi Lupopo. Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men won the second leg 3-0, but went out on penalties. There was also no shortage of controversy, with Lupopo’s Dieumerci Mukoko Amale winning no admirers in Sowrto with his antics and histrionics.

Who is Dieumerci Mukoko Amale?
