CT City & Leopards Finally Win & Casric Move Top

Cape Town City and Black Leopards picked up their first wins of the season as Casric Stars beat Hungry Lions 3-2 to move back to the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Leicesterford City shocked Highbury FC coming from a goal down to claim all three points. Amajuba took the lead in the first half through Siyabonga Dubula’s penalty which was his third goal of the campaign. Dan Ndhlovu equalized for Tau Tsa Monoka, but experienced Phathutshedzo Nange slotted a penalty deep in the second half to seal the three points as City moved to third place.

CT City Lose As Casric Stretch Unbeaten Run

Saturday afternoon had four matches and produced 16 goals. Cape Town City finally won their first game of the season beating Midlands Wanderers FC in a five-goal thriller. Jaedin Rhodes scored twice in the first half for CT City to give them a comfortable 2-0 lead. Wanderers came back in the second half guns blazing with Sduduzo Dlamini and Sandile Mkhwanazi scoring the equalizing two goals. City new signing Therlo Moosa came from the bench and scored the winner deep in the second half. 

The high scoring game was between Upington City and Milford FC as it ended 3-3. Rowen Visagie, Given Khupe and Lesedi Motha scored for City. Milford goals were scored by Sifiso Mdluli, Cheswyn Philander and Lilitha Dyonasi but their four-match winning streak came to an end. 

Black Leopards finally moved away from the relegation zone after hammering Kruger United 3-0. Namibian international Bethuel Muzeu scored all the three goals to secure maximum points as Lidoda Duvha moved one point above relegation. 

Sunday afternoon, Lerumo Lions ended their four-match winless run handing Gomora United their third defeat of the season. Lions moved to 12th place.

Meanwhile, Casric Stars edged Hungry Lions in a five-goal humdinger with a 3-2 scoreline to move top of the standings.
