Magesi FC captain and first choice goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has sent a message of gratitude to the club management, teammates and fans after picking up the Carling Knockout Cup Player of the Tournament award.

Chipezeze enjoyed an impressive debut season with the Limpopo-based outfit in topflight where they finished 13th in the league with 31 points and also lifted the Knockout Cup.

The Zimbabwe international was also nominated in the Betway Premiership Goalkeeper Of the Season category, which was won by Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Chaine.

But in the Cup category he beat competition from club teammate Edmore Chirambadare and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners.

“Firstly, I would like to say thank you very much for the support and the recognition to be named one of the best players in the tournament it is something that is special for me,” said Chipezeze.

“And a special mention also to my teammates, my goalkeeper coach, my chairman for the opportunity that they’ve given me and the support also that they’ve shown throughout the journey. You know it’s been special especially for the Football Club because it was our first season and we managed to push and get the silverware, something special for the club.

And also the supporters I just wanted to say thank you very much for all the support that you’ve been giving us throughout the competition it mustn’t go unnoticed.

“And it’s more work to come and we just have to make sure that we put on the grind and it’s special, you know, it’s special. I’m excited but the work continues because now it’s going to be our second season in the in the division and consistency is key.

“So we just have to make sure that we lift up from where we left off because the target is also is to stay in the division. So it also comes with hard work. We’re optimistic for all the things that are going to happen and also with the new group. We just have to make sure that we keep on pushing and pushing.”
