Chiefs Youngster Declares Strong Bafana Ambition

Posted on December 1, 2025

Inspired by the rise of young stars in the national team, Kaizer Chiefs’ Naledi Hlongwane has expressed a strong Bafana Bafana ambition.

Having been promoted to the senior team this season, the 20-year-old has already featured in the Betway Premiership.

Hlongwane says that after seeing several young players contribute significantly to Bafana’s recent success, he is also working towards the goal of representing the national team.

He believes that if those young players can break into the national team, there’s no reason he can’t do the same. Still, he understands that his journey may unfold differently.

“I could say, now we’re in the modern football in these days. So, us youngsters are the ones who are contributing a lot into football,” said Hlongwane.

“It pushes me also to want to do it. I’m like if they could do it, why I can’t? So, you have to ask yourself, if not now when?

“So, you mustn’t think that you will do it tomorrow, you must start [working towards] it now, so you’ll benefit in the future.

“What you do today will have results in future. If you have had an extra individual training of two months you mustn’t expect rapid results.

“It takes time, we don’t have the same journey, you have your path, I have my own.”
