Chiefs star is back since Sundowns match 7 months ago

Posted on November 3, 2025

The last time Kaizer Chiefs’ Given Msimango was seen on the green grass was on 13 April at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The night was on the grand stage of the Nedbank Cup semifinals, where Wandile Duba struck late to send Mamelodi Sundowns crashing out of the tournament.

According to the club’s latest report, Msimango has resumed contact training with the Amakhosi team at Naturena.

GIVEN MSIMANGO NEARS MATCH ACTION FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Chatting to the media ahead of facing Orbit College in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday, 3 November, the Tunisian co-coach revealed that Msimango is only tuning his match fitness.

“Given [Msimango] is part of the team, he is ready. It’s just about his fitness now and he will be ready; we will introduce him,” Youssef told journalists.

Msimango, hailing from Brakpan in Gauteng, captained TS Galaxy before signing for Kaizer Chiefs in July 2023. Holding a Diploma in Business Management from Unisa and a BCom Accounting degree from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Msimango played for UJ before moving to Highlands Park and then TS Galaxy.

Meanwhile, the likes of Zitha Kwinika, Miguel Cardoso, and Aden McCarthy have been holding the fort in Kaizer Chiefs’ defensive line with nine clean sheets in 14 games. Msimango will have his work cut out if he wants to fight his way back into the starting XI. The same goes for fellow injured centre-back Rushwin Dortley.
