Chiefs Held In Lubumbashi – iDiski Times

Kaizer Chiefs picked up a goalless draw against AS Simba at TP Mazembe Stadium in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round clash.

Amakhosi co-coaches opted for a similar starting XI to the team that lost to Stellenbosch FC on penalties in the Carling Knockout before the international break, making only two changes.

Brandon Petersen returned to goal, while Siphesihle Ndlovu replaced Mduduzi Shabalala in midfielder.

With the game not show on tv in South Africa, the Khosi Nation had to rely on updates from the club’s official accounts or catch one of the Facebook streams from the stands in TP Mazembe Stadium.

Khanyisa Mayo, who was registered for the second preliminary round clash, rattled the crossbar in one of the few highlights of the first half as both teams went goalless into the break.

There were not too many clearcut chances in the second half either, as both sides continued to cancel each other out.

The tie remains evenly poised ahead of the second leg at Dobsonville Stadium, although Chiefs missed a chance to pick up an important away goal.
