Kaizer Chiefs climbed back above reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns after beating Golden Arrows 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Chiefs had the ball in the back of the net after 20 minutes but Mduduzi Shabalala was flagged offside.
Just two minutes later, Amakhosi almost scored again when a cross by Thabiso Monyane got deflected but it bounced across the line before Keenan Phillips cleared it.
Sabelo Sithole almost opened the scoring for Arrows but he was superbly denied by Brandon Petersen in the 39th minute.
Junior Sede Dion almost scored his fourth goal of the season but his volley in the 54th minute only hit the outside of the post.
Chiefs eventually found the opener through new striker Flavio Da Silva, who finished a superb move following via Mfundo Vilakazi and Gaston Sirino to score his first Amakhosi goal.
The three points saw Nasreddine Nabi’s side move back into second place with 13 points from their opening five points, level with Sekhukhune United who beat Durban City 2-0 – but two ahead of Sundowns.
