Chiefs finally find a striker after signing 7 in 3 years?

There’s a reasonable buzz among Kaizer Chiefs fans, it looks like they’ve finally found a nine.

New signing Flavio Silva is making scoring looking easy, hitting his fourth goal in fifth games.

Amakhosi‘s last seven striker signings never came near this early scoring rate, namely…

  • Lazarous Kambole
  • Christian Saile
  • Caleb Bimenyimana
  • Jasond Gonzalez
  • Ashley Du Preez
  • Ranga Chivaviro
  • Tashreeq Morris.

The last top striker was Nurkovic with 13 league goals during the 2019/20 season. This was the most by any Amakhosi player since Knowledge Musona smashed in 15 in the 2010/11 season

FLAVIO SILVA’S GOALS FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Looking at Silva’s flying start, the Khosi nation can’t help but expect high double digits come May 2026.

The 29-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has only started two of his seven appearances for Amakhosi and he didn’t much more.

Silva has scored four goals in last five appearances…

  • Scored the winner in the 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on 30 August
  • Scored the consolation in the 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United on 16 September
  • Did not score in the 1-1 draw against AmaZulu
  • Scored the winner in the 1-0 win over Durban City on 31 October
  • Scored the fourth in the 4-1 win over Orbit College on 4 November.

THE JOURNEY TO SOWETO

The lanky center forward was announced by Kaizer Chiefs on 25 July from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia.

He arrived well-traveled having played also played in Portugal, Luxembourg. Silva joined Amakhosi with 56 career goals in 194 matches.

Last season, he scored seven goals in 16 games for Surabaya, while the best season of his career was in 2023/24 with Persik Kediri, where he struck a fabulous 23 goals in 29 matches.
