Chiefs End UK Tour Unbeaten

Kaizer Chiefs‘ DStv Diski Challenge side played out a goalless draw with English side Queens Park Rangers in the third game of their UK tour on Saturday.

Chiefs started the game strong and dominated early possession, controlling the tempo of the game and had the first real chance after 20 minutes when Matala Makhubo hit the post with a powerful shot from outside the box.

After just 30 minutes, QPR changed their entire squad, replacing the U21 players – which had also included Bafana Bafana defender Tylon Smith – with their U18s.

The young Amakhosi continued to dominate but failed to create any real scoring opportunities, with both sides remaining deadlocked until half-time.

Chiefs continued to dictate the pace after the break, but still their dominance did not translate into anything tangible.

The second half was a mirror of the first, with Amakhosi continuing to dominate in the middle of the park but struggling to create good openings in the final third, while QPR hardly threatened the Chiefs goal.

However, in the 81st minute Siyabonga Gumede made a crucial clearance inside the box to deny the hosts.

The draw meant, the young Amakhosi ended their UK tour unbeaten after beating Manchester United 3-1, and consecutive draws vs Leeds United (1-1) and QPR (0-0).
