Chiefs & Downs Suffer Defeats In DDC Action

Posted on February 15, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu while Mamelodi Sundowns went down 3-2 to Golden Arrows in Sunday’s DStv Diski Challenge ties at Seshego Stadium.

With league leaders Orlando Pirates not in action this weekend, it was up to Masandawana to narrow the gap at the top of the standings.

Sundowns opened the scoring via Bennet Mokoena’s spot kick in the 17th minute for his 12th league goal of the campaign. Abafana Bes’thende levelled matters in the 24th minute through Andiswa Booysen before adding the second from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute. Kwandile Gumede then made it 3-1 in the 33rd minute before Gomolemo Kekana pulled one back in the 59th minute but the KwaZulu-Natal outfit stood firm to eventually walk away with the win.

The defending champions suffered a second defeat on the trot as Rocco Rocha opened the scoring for Usuthu in the 39th minute by capitalising on a defensive error by Chiefs to hand his team the all-important win.
