Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has given an injury updated ahead of his side’s Betway Premiership clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Amakhosi have had a perfect start to the 2025/26 league campaign after beating Stellenbosch FC, Polokwane City and Richards Bay.
But they will be tested against defending champions Sundowns on Wednesday, with Kaze revealing the squad was hit a bit by a flu, while Aden McCarthy looks to remain sidelined.
“About Aden, he hasn’t training since that day. The medical staff are working hard to put him back on the field but we will have to wait and see how he does tomorrow to decide whether he will be part of the game or not,” he stated.
“We have Shinga and Cross who have been sick the last few days. Ighodaro was also injured at training two days ago.
“But apart from that everyone is well and ready for the game.”
Kaze also confirmed that long-term absentees Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley will remain sidelined until next month.
“Those are injuries that have been for a long time,” he added.
“Msimango is doing better, but it’s not players that we believe will be with us at least this month, probably Msimango next month and Dortley also later next month.”
