This Saturday will be different. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will step onto the continental stage at the exact same time, something fans hardly ever see.
Amakhosi take on Angola’s Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederation Cup at the FNB Stadium, while the Buccaneers face Lioli FC at the Orlando Stadium in the CAF Champions League.
Both games are set for Saturday, 27 September, with a 15:00 kick-off.
SOWETO GIANTS KAIZER CHIEFS AND ORLANDO PIRATES PROVIDE CAF WEEKEND
Usually, the Premier Soccer League knows well to ensure Amakhosi and the Buccaneers don’t clash on the schedule, giving supporters a chance to enjoy both matches. But this is CAF football.
So what can we expect on the green grass? The stakes are steep for Kaizer Chiefs. After a frustrating 1-0 loss in Luanda last Saturday, the Phefeni Glamour Boys must now turn the tie around in Johannesburg.
Julio’s strike in the 59th minute gave Kabuscorp the advantage in Angola, and Kaizer Chiefs now need at least a 2-0 win to go through, and conceding an away goal could spell disaster. A 1-0 victory would drag the tie to penalties.
How Amakhosi lined-up in the first leg:
Brandon Petersen, Zitha Kwinika, Inacio Miguel, Aden McCarthy, Paseka Mako, Thabo Cele, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Pule Mmodi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Glody Lilepo, Flavio da Silva.
Substitutes: Fiacre Ntwari, Reeve Frosler, Bradley Cross, George Matlou, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Gaston Sirino, Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba, Ashley Du Preez.

Orlando Pirates, meanwhile, are breathing far easier. A commanding 3-0 win away to Lioli in Bloemfontein last weekend means the Buccaneers are all but through to the next round.
Only a dramatic collapse would knock them out. A 3-0 defeat would send the game to penalties, while a 4-0 loss in 90 minutes would send the Sea Robbers packing.
How the Buccaneers line-up in the first leg:
Sipho Chaine, Thabiso Lebitso, Lebone Seema, Mbokazi Mbokazi, Deon Hotto, Sihle Nduli, Sipho Mbule, Thalente Mbatha, Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Oswin Appollis.
