Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele says they have spoken about guarding against complacency this season while tonight’s league clash against Richards Bay will be a good opportunity to put things into practice.
Amakhosi have enjoyed a flying start to the 2025/26 season collecting all six points to sit second on the Betway Premiership table while the Natal Rich Boyz are second from bottom with no points from their opening two encounters. Last season, Chiefs struggled to get consecutive wins and will look to make it a hat-trick of victories in a while.
Cele told the media at a press conference that they have spoken about treating complacency like an enemy and he sees the Richards Bay game as an opportunity to collect maximum points.
“I think that’s one of the things that we discussed amongst ourselves, even in pre-season, that you know, complacency is our enemy, especially this season,” said Cele.
“Also playing a team that you know didn’t start so well we think that it’s an opportunity for us, you know, even in like different games, we always have an opportunity.
“So even this one is an opportunity for us to get the maximum points like in any other game.
“So, I think it’s a very interesting game, difficult game, but I think we’re going to be ready for it.”
