Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso appeared to take aim at the referee after his team dropped points against Swallows FC.
Masandawana were held to a 1-1 draw by the Bloemfontein-based side, missing the chance to reclaim the top spot in the league with a game in hand over Orlando Pirates.
Cardoso admitted that Sundowns struggled in the first half but dominated much of the second, eventually finding the equaliser.
Late in the match, Sundowns were reduced to ten men after Teboho Mokoena received a second yellow card, resulting in a red.
After the game, Cardoso made cryptic remarks, saying a “someone cleverer than everyone” on the pitch made it tough for them to secure a win.
“We had a massive control in the second half, we scored but someone on the pitch more clever than everyone else decided to make the game difficult for us,” said Cardoso on SuperSport TV.
“And that’s the story of the game. It seems like people come here and speak a lot and make teases out of this match.
“But in this match, there was Sundowns trying to score and the other team just handling them, nothing more.”
When asked about Mokoena’s incident that led to red card, he replied, “I said there was someone clever, I didn’t speak about the referee.
“It’s up to you to analyse, you had the TV and you can say what you saw not me. I don’t know. I don’t want to punished.”
