Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has reacted to new signing Brayan Leon’s performance on the player’s debut in the 2-0 win over Orbit College in Tshwane on Monday evening.
Leon, 25, joined the defending champions Betway Premiership earlier this month and made his debut coming off the bench at the start of the second half.
The Colombian scored the winner 20 minutes after getting on to help Sundowns return to the top of the log with 29 points in 14 matches.
Cardoso was happier that Leon is giving the team options, especially with a lot of the regulars absent on the night.
“We knew that Lebo [Mothiba] could not hold all the match but also we knew that we wanted to give half match to Brayan, so it was a predicted substitution,” said Cardoso on SuperSport TV.
“And just happy that we have more solutions, obviously in the moment important players are not even today on the bench.
“But what these guys need to understand is Sundowns that will play a lot of matches and the boys just need to be ready for all the opportunities we give.
“And that’s what I hope it will happen for sure.”
