Cardoso On Facing Al Hilal Away

Posted on January 27, 2026

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has spoken about the next tough CAF Champions League fixture against Al Hilal away from home.

The Brazilians were held to a 2–2 draw by the Sudanese side at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday evening, dropping points at home.

The two sides will meet again next Friday, 30 January, in Rwanda in an exciting rematch as the battle for places in the knockout stages continues.

Before Sundowns travel to Rwanda, they will face Sekhukhune United in a league tie on Tuesday, 27 January, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo.

Cardoso says that despite failing to secure maximum points against Al Hilal at home, they will go to Rwanda with the intention of collecting all three points.

“As always, we approach every game to win,” said Cardoso.

“So, we will go to Rwanda with the right strategy to win the game, of course. It has nothing to do with the match that will be played in the other stadium.

“Our match will be our match, we need to play to win, we will always play to win. Whatever happened today [Friday]…

“We didn’t take the points we deserved [on Friday]. We gonna have to go and fight for three points in Rwanda.”
