Can they collect 15 points?

Orlando Pirates will play their second match of the season following their impressive 2-0 win over Polokwane City on Saturday in the MTN8 quarter-finals.

With a win under their belt, the Buccaneers will switch their attention to the Betway Premiership this weekend. They host Sekhukhune United at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday at 17:30.

Having lost out to Mamelodi Sundowns last year, Pirates will hope to once again challenge Masandawana in the league. The two teams will face each other in the semi-finals of the MTN8 over two legs in the coming weeks.

Which teams do Orlando Pirates play in August?

On Saturday, the Sea Robbers host Sekhukhune before travelling to Bloemfontein to play Marumo Gallants in their second league fixture.

Eight days later, the Buccaneers will face arguably one of the league’s toughest teams in Stellenbosch FC. Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men look to avenge their loss that happened late in 2024, which ultimately saw their title charge derailed.

After hosting Stellies, Orlando Pirates will have another home match against newboys Orbit College on 26 August before travelling to Qqeberha to play Chippa United on 31 August.

Which matches can the Buccaneers win?

Out of the five fixtures, Pirates play three of them at Orlando Stadium and nothing but three points should satisfy Ouaddou. The Marumo Gallants’ match away could be tricky and if Orlando Pirates slip up, they could find themselves once again chasing the league.

The away fixture against Chippa is winnable when you look at Ouaddou’s squad. Expect the Buccaneers to heavily rotate their players especially with CAF Champions League fixtures coming up.

Can Pirates win the league?
