CAF Reveal CL Drawing Pots

Posted on November 3, 2025

The Confederation of African Footbal [CAF] have confirmed the drawing pots for the Champions League group stage draw, with Mamelodi Sundowns in Pot 1.

The draw will take place at 14:00 (SAST) in Johannesburg on Monday, with Sundowns the only South African team among the 16 qualified teams after Orlando Pirates were knocked out by St. Eloi Lupopo.

Masandawana are in Pot 1, alongside record champions Al Ahly, ES Tunis and RS Berkane, while defending champions Pyramids are in Pot 2.

Lupopo find themselves in Pot 4, meaning they could be paired with Sundowns – as could former Downs coach Rulani Mokwena and his new side MC Alger, who are in Pot 3.

The first ball drawn from each pot will go in Group A, second in Group B, third in Group C and last in Group D, with the procedure repeated for all four pots.

  • Pot 1: Al Ahly FC (EGY), Mamelodi Sundowns (RSA), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (TUN), RS Berkane (MAR)
  • Pot 2: Simba SC (TAN), Pyramids FC (EGY), Al Hilal SC (SUD), Young Africans (TAN)
  • Pot 3: Atlético Petroleos (ANG), AS FAR (MAR), MC Alger (ALG), Rivers United FC (NGA)
  • Pot 4: JS Kabylie (ALG), Stade Malien (MLI), FC St Eloi Lupopo (COD), Power Dynamos (ZAM)
