Broos Not Happy With Bafana Performance

Posted on December 17, 2025

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has insisted he was not happy with the performance of his players in their 1-0 win over Ghana’s CHAN side at Dobsonville Stadium.

Sipho Mbule scored the only goal of the match with a stunning strike form outside the box, but there wasn’t much else to write home about.

Broos expressed his unhappiness after the match, saying they have more work ahead of them ahead of their AFCON opener against Angola.

“I’m happy with the result that we won the game, but I think we can play much better than today,” he said on SABC 2.

“We didn’t really play a very good game, there was not so much movement in the team what we are used to, the passing was not good.

“So we still need a little bit work to be on the highest level for next week.”

Broos also admitted that some players may have played with the hand break a little bit in order not to get injured ahead of AFCON.

“I’m certain that plays in the heads also that next week AFCON starts,” he added.

“The players are a little bit afraid to get injured or whatever. But again I expected a little bit more from my team today, a better game but that can happen.

“I remember two years ago it was Lesotho in the last game we played, so that gives us hope.

“I’m sure the boys will be ready for Angola.”
