Broos – I Had A Bad Feeling

Posted on September 5, 2025

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has described what happened in the past few days around the national team as “not normal”, revealing he had a bad feeling for the clash against Lesotho.

His players stepped up on the pitch, beating their neighbours 3-0 thanks to goals by Mohau Nkota, Lyle Foster and Oswin Appollis.

However, there had been a lot of noise around Bafana, especially from Nigeria, with the Super Eagles and the NFF hoping that Bafana will get docked points for fielding suspended Teboho Mokoena in the reverse fixture.

But Lesotho didn’t protest in time then, while FIFA have remained silent on the case. After Friday’s win, Broos insisted that games need to be won on the pitch…

“I think we deserve to win the game,” he said in post-match presser.

“And that shows again that you only win games on the pitch and not off the pitch…

“You know sometimes you have a bad feeling and I have to be honest I’ve had that bad feeling during the past days.

“I will not go in detail but again what happened in the past days is not normal. Therefor it was so important for us to win the game today, and that’s what we did.

“Now we will see next week when we play against Nigeria, if God is with us we can maybe qualify already next Tuesday for the World Cup, and that stays the goal for us.”
