BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs and Nasreddine Nabi part ways

Posted on September 18, 2025

In a story that is sure to send shockwaves through the local football community, Nasreddine Nabi is believed to have left his position as Kaizer Chiefs coach just a few weeks into the new season.

The bombshell breaking news initially varied in providing reasons behind this shock exit, but Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make an announcement soon.

According to iDiski Times, Nabi – who is in his second season with the Glamour Boys – may have left the club due to the recent accident involving his wife, and which saw him miss the start of the season after being granted compassionate leave.

Meanwhile, award-winning journalist Mazola Molefe suggested Chiefs had “sacked” Nabi, and that it “may be due to a breach in contract”.

Molefe states that Nabi may not have a “valid license to sit on the bench for CAF Confederation Cup fixtures”, which Chiefs are set to return to.

“It’s understood the issue are around his CAF qualifications, meaning he would not be able to sit on the bench for any of their interclub competition fixtures this season – especially if they progress further,” the report on the SABC website added.

Chiefs will next be in action in their CAF Confederation Cup first round preliminary qualifier against Girabola side Kabuscorp S.C.P, but Nabi will not be there as his exit is said to be effective immediately.

First assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef and second assistant coach Cedric Kaze are expected to lead the team until the next plans regarding a head coach can be made.
