Benni’s Kenya Thrashed By Senegal

Benni McCarthy’s Kenya received a massive 8-0 hammering at the hands of Senegal in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The Lions of Teranga started the game with their strongest team led by Sadio Mane as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

On the other side Kenya wanted to redeem themselves after a 1-0 against Equatorial Guinea four days ago.

It took just nine minutes for Senegal to take the lead after Bayern Munchen striker Nicolas Jackson found the back of the net. Just three minutes later El Hadji Malick Diouf doubled the lead.

Things went from bad to worse after Jackson completed his brace in the 14th minute before Mane put his name on the scoresheet just three minutes later.

The Harambee Stars struggled to contain Senegal, with Mane completing his brace from the penalty spot to make it 5-0 after 35 minutes. McCarthy’s side even conceded the sixth goal before half-time, as Mane completed his hat-trick in 38th minute.

Even though Kenya couldn’t stop Senegal from adding more, the Lions of Teranga slowed down and added just two more in the second half. Paris-Saint Germain star Ibrahim Mbaye made it 7-0 in the 47th minute but it took until the 80th minute for them to put the final nail in the coffin when Cherif Ndiaye converted a penalty.

The heavy defeat was Kenya’s fourth loss in their last six games, with the Harambee Stars only recording wins of Burundi and Seychelles.
