Bayern Munich and Ghana legend Samuel Kuffour was full of praise for Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the much-anticipated Toyota Cup between Amakhosi and Asante Kotoko.

The Ghanaian legend was part of the meeting, held ahead of the much-anticipated Toyota Cup on Saturday, 26 July. In attendance were several prominent figures in Ghanaian football, including former internationals and representatives of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana as well as Amakhosi legends.

“The entire exercise led by Chiefs has been an invaluable learning experience for all of us involved in club football on the continent,” Kuffour told the media.

Kaizer Chiefs to play in Durban

“We are honoured to welcome legends like Nomvethe and Fredericks to Ghana. Their presence here, as part of the Toyota Cup initiative, goes beyond football. It’s about building bridges across Africa through the beautiful game.

“It sets a powerful example of how we can grow stronger through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual respect,” the PFAG President said.

Kaizer Chiefs will play Asante Kotoko on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban. Amakhosi recently concluded their pre-season tour to the Netherlands, where they played five matches. Saturday’s match against Ghanaian giants will give Nasreddine Nabi a clear indication of how prepared his team is for next season.

Kaizer Chiefs kick off their season against Stellenbosch on 10 August.
