Bafana Hammer Zambia In Gqeberha

Posted on November 15, 2025

Bafana Bafana overpowered Zambia with a 3-1 hiding in a friendly international at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday afternoon.

The likes of Lyle Foster, Oswin Appollis and Sipho Mbule all posed an early threat to the Zambian defence but had nothing to show for it.

After much resilience from Bafana’s attacking pack, the deadlock was broken in the 43rd minute after Mbule outmuscled the Zambian midfielders before finding Appollis who made it 1-0.

Mbule proved a menace for the visitors as he set up yet another assist, this time for Mohau Nkota in the 62nd minute with a beautiful curler from outside the box to double the lead.

In the 68th minute, South Africa were 3-0 to the good as Sphephelo Sithole made no mistake with an easy header from close range.

Fashion Sakala almost grabbed a consolation for Chipolopolo after a solo run a few moments later but saw his shot beat Sipho Chaine but sailed inches off target.

Nkota came close to his brace of the afternoon, but Toaster Nsabata denied the diminutive attacker with his feet in the 78th minute.

Sabobo Banda was able to grab a late consolation for the Zambians in stoppage time, but Bafana held on to claim the win ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco next month.
