Bafana Drop In Latest FIFA Rankings

Posted on October 17, 2025

Despite securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Bafana Bafana have surprisingly dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings released on Friday.

Bafana qualified to next year’s global showpiece in the USA, Canada and Mexico after dispatching Rwanda 3-0 in match-day 10 of qualification to top Group C with 18 points, one ahead of Nigeria.

While Bafana’s results have been positive, this is likely due to the retroactive change of the Lesotho result from a 2-0 victory to 3-0 loss earlier in the WC qualifying campaign. Hugo Broos’ side is currently in 59th place ahead of DRC and Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile, in CAF rankings Bafana is currently sitting in 10th place, one down from ninth, while Morocco remains in top spot and Senegal in second place.
