Bafana Bafana defender Ime Okon registered his first goal for German 2 Bundesliga side Hannover96 in their 3-1 win over 1. FC Magdeburg this past weekend.
Okon, 21, joined Hannover during the off season on a free transfer from SuperSport United (now Siwelele) and has already featured four times for his new team with a goal to his name.
The win for Hannover saw them maintain their spot at the top of the league standings and are the only side to win their opening three matches.
Okon has since expressed a feeling of belonging by praising his teammates for playing their part in how they have managed to gel so well together.
“We have a good team that works well together and helps each other,” he told the club’s official website.
“It feels very good to leave the pitch as a winner today. I worked a lot on myself in training – also with the help of my teammates.
“It’s great that I scored a goal. I am very grateful to my team members.”
