Bafana Call Up 4 New Players

Posted on October 31, 2025

By Velile Mnyandu

When Bafana Bafana play their second 2021 COSAFA Cup match against Eswatini tomorrow at the Wolfson stadium in Gqeberha, they will be boosted by the availability of Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe, Baroka FC centre-back Vusi Sibiya, Chippa United defender Ayabulela Konqobe and Bloemfontein Celtic striker Victor Letsoalo.

All the called-up players’ availability is subject to their Covid19 results.

Some of these players could be available for this clash, which would see two teams currently tied on three points after winning their opening matches against Lesotho and Botswana respectively on Monday.

Bafana Bafana caretaker Morena Ramoreboli, who has assumed duties after Helman Mkhalele tested positive for Covid19 earlier this week, is sounding positive that Maboe’s arrival and other new players will push them to the next level.

“Yes, Maboe will be coming, he only got delayed because if you remember when we went to a camp, him and the other guys had the problem with COVID and all of that. So, obviously, we had to allow the process of quarantine to take place and all of that. So, he is ready now. He will he will be joining us. He will start with us probably tomorrow. And then we’ll prepare for the next match at least with more numbers. I believe that you will will take advantage of getting the fresh legs especially after this difficult match,” said Mo

iDiski Times also understands that the Bafana technical team had tried to call-up Cape Town City left-back Terrence Mashego and Stellenbosch attacker Lelethu Skelem but were not successful in getting them to the camp.

PSL defender of the season and Kaizer Chiefs newly signed defender Njabulo Ngcobo is also expected to be available for this game after missing the opening game.

And all these changes would give Bafana a huge boost against Eswatini.

“Yes, it is important to take each game as it comes. We are playing a Eswatini in the next match and they won their match. Obviously it’s gonna be a very, very difficult game. But remember, if you do well against them, you will have tried to give yourself a clear chance of qualifying for the next stage which I believe that with a consistent performance we can get there,” said Ramoreboli on their next match.
