Bafana Announce Starting XI To Face Ghana

Posted on December 17, 2025

Bafana Bafana have announced their starting XI to face Ghana’s CHAN team in a warm-up friendly match before AFCON.

Hugo Broos men have been in camp since last week, with some unusual controversy overshadowing the preparations – and even captain Ronwen Williams calling it “strange and weird”.

Meanwhile, Ghana have sent their CHAN team, Black Galaxies, which is made up of local-based players, to face South Africa at Dobsonville Stadium this afternoon.

Bafana are unbeaten on the pitch since their AFCON opener against Mali two years ago, although that record was voided by the FIFA ruling to hand Lesotho a 3-0 win over the Teboho Mokoena yellow card-saga.

They will start their AFCON against Angola in six days before facing Egypt on 26 December and Zimbabwe on 29 December.

Broos already confirmed that Lyle Foster, Sphelelo Sithole and Shandre Campbell will only join the camp in Morocco after late releases from their European clubs, leading him to reshuffle his team for today’s friendly.

Here is how they line up:

Bafana XI: Goss, Matuludi, Ndamane, Sibisi, Modiba, Mbatha, Aubaas, Mbule, Nkota, Moremi, Makgopa

Subs: Chaine, Williams, Mbokazi, Kabini, Ngezana, Mudau, Mokoena, Appollis, Mokwana, Mofokeng

Ghana XI: Osei, Mamudu, Afful, Simpson, Abban, Adams, Dogli, Owusu, Asante, Seidu, Annor
