Arubi Hails Chairman On Coaches Selection

Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi says club chairman Abram Sello has the knack for picking good coaches for the side making reference with incumbent Alexandre Lafitte.

At just 28, the French man has won a league championship in Ivory Coast before joining Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.

He has enjoyed a fairly positive start to the Betway Premiership campaign, collecting 15 points in 14 matches, six points from the top eight bracket while he also helped the side reach the Carling Knockout final where they lost to new champions Orlando Pirates coached by a former Gallants coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Arubi spoke to iDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago where he praised his boss’ acumen in acquiring coaches.

“Yeah, you see, my chairman has this thing,” Arubi told iDiski Times.

“He just has something; he knows how to pick these coaches. You must check most of the coaches he chooses, they always get other teams after they leave Marumo. They don’t struggle to get teams.”

The 40-year-old Zimbabwean added that his coach is getting better the older he gets and it’s clear for anyone paying attention.

Arubi also expressed his respect for Lafitte saying he wishes him more even a move to a bigger club in South Africa in the future.

“He’s getting better through his age, and he’s more than experienced right now because he won a league in Ivory Coast,” added Arubi.

“To be honest with you, I’m enjoying his philosophy like his type of play, and he’s making me learn. I respect him as my boss, I respect him as a father, and I respect him as my coach. You know he’s a good guy, he’s a good coach, one of the best coaches right now in South Africa.

“I hope that one day people will understand him, and I wish him well in future. It’s not like he’s just always going to be around here. Obvious, most of the teams they are watching, they can see that Marumo is doing well. I wish for him one day to be taken by one of those big teams.”
