Arthur Zwane reacts to Rele Mofokeng’s goal

Posted on February 4, 2026

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane was left frustrated with his players after Relebohile Mofokeng inspired Orlando Pirates to a 2-0 win over Usuthu on Tuesday evening in Durban.

Mofokeng scored the opener through a header before a late own goal sealed the three points for the Buccaneers at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

After the match, Zwane felt his players could have done more to deny Mofokeng’s header, given the winger’s size.

“Like I said, I think we were a little bit sluggish in the first 20-25 minutes and we allowed them to shape the ball inside the box and to me Rele is not one of the best headers of the ball and unfortunately, we couldn’t defend that one. But also, Nkosi should’ve been inside, he was outside,” Zwane told after the game.

“He should’ve been goal-side to defend, he was definitely going to get the ball first before Rele but I think he was caught sleeping there a little bit and I think from there they slowed the game down, the way they controlled and we had moments where it was open for us to hurt them,” Zwane added.

Mofokeng has now scored in consecutive matches which earned him back-to-back Man of the Match awards.

For AmaZulu and Zwane, it’s back to the drawing board. Usuthu could have snatched first place on the log if they defeated the Buccaneers at home.

Do you think Orlando Pirates will go on and win the league?
