Orlando Pirates attacker Oswin Appollis has opened up on his relationship with teammate Sipho Mbule saying they have been close since their development days at SuperSport United.
Though their careers took different turns after Matsatsantsa according to Appollis, the two have always stayed in touch. They have been reunited at Pirates this season and their playing chemistry has been fruitful not only for the club but also for the senior national team.
Appollis admitted that Mbule asked their club chairman to sign the 24-year-old when he recruited the former to join the Buccaneers.
“Yes, he did that, he did tell the chairman that [asked for me to come here],” said Appollis.
“But we came from SuperSport already and created a small bond. Even when I went to Polokwane, he always checked up on me to see if I’m okay.
“He’s always been funny and there’s something that people don’t know about him he likes playing FIFA. So that’s the one thing I have always done, playing FIFA. The character you see he’s always been having it.”
The former Polokwane City winger added that he is happy to see the Master Chef’s hard work being rewarded in being part of the Bafana Bafana 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
“I think as a player especially for S’phola I think the more you put in the hard work, eventually you’ll get rewarded,” added Appollis.
“And that is something that has been happening now. I’m happy to see him you know going with the team to AFCON.”
