Appollis Makes Admission Over MOTM

Posted on December 7, 2025

Oswin Appollis has admitted there were players who deserved it more to be named Man of the Match after walking away with the R100 000 cheque.

Orlando Pirates secured the Carling Knockout Cup title after beating Marumo Gallants 1-0 in extra-time thanks to Relebohile Mofokeng’s goal in the 105th minute.

By the time Pirates scored Appollis was already off the pitch after being replaced by Cemran Dansin, but 8876 still voted for him as Man of the Match – with the winger admitting he didn’t really deserve the accolade.

“We have to thank the man above to make the win today,” he stated on SuperSport TV.

“I’m happy for the boys we fought today. I want to thank the fans for voting for me but I think there is players who deserve it more today.

“I want to thank the fans for voting for me, but I think there is players who deserve it more today because it wasn’t my best game but like I said thank you for the fans.

“We’ve put in the work to reach the final, the boys fought today like I said. Even in the previous matches the boys fought.

“Like I said I don’t think I deserve it today but thank you for the fans.”
