Al Hial Coach Reacts To Earning Point Sundowns At Loftus

Posted on January 24, 2026

Al Hilal head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf says a point away from home against Mamelodi Sundowns is a good result in the CAF Champions League.

Hilal and Sundowns are level on five points each after three game played in Group C, while MC Alger and St Eloi Lupopo on a point each face off tomorrow.

The Sudanese powerhouse opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Abdelrazig Omer Taha but were pegged back by Arthur Sales less than 10 minutes later.

Teboho Mokoena’s stunner put Sundowns in the lead after the hour mark but the experienced winger bagged his brace which secured a vital point for the Blue Wave.

“I think it’s a good result for us, we didn’t keep well in defence, small mistakes that’s why we conceded the first goal, we didn’t take advantage after taking the lead, that’s why I’m happy with the 2-2 draw, because Sundowns fought back,” he told SABC Sport.

“You must understands Sundowns and Hilal are two best teams in the group, ok, MC Alger can come back from behind with an amazing team but it will be a nice competition with nice games, that’s why the called this the group of death.”

Sundowns will now face Hilal away from home next week for round four of their thrilling Group C spectacle in Africa’s elite club competition.
