Agent provides worrying update on forgotten Pirates star

Posted on February 12, 2026

Orlando Pirates are looking like the team to beat this season.

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side have already lifted both the MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies.

They’re also on course to lift the Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup titles!

The club dipped heavily into the transfer market at the beginning of the season, and are now enjoying the fruits of some smart buys.

Pirates defender looking for his next team

Bandile Shandu has made just two starts under Abdeslam Ouaddou this season.

The 31-year-old old utility right-back has fallen well down the pecking order.

Deano Van Rooyen and Thabiso Lebitso have been preferred at right-back, while winger Kamogelo Sebelebele has occasionally been thrown in also at times.

Now, Shandu’s agent has provided some light on the players’ situation at the club.

“We were talking to Pirates about how they saw him. But we’ve now got to open the market, which we’ve started doing. The likelihood is that we will be looking at a new club for him, but we’ve left the door open for Orlando Pirates,” his agent Mike Makaab told Soccer Laduma.

Shandu’s numbers at the Buccaneers

Bandile Shandu joined Orlando Pirates from Maritzburg United in 2021.

Since joining the club, the utility defender has made 110 appearances for the club.

Shandu has 11 goals and five assists to his name.
