Beyond just getting the desired results, Chiefs have also delivered noticeably improved performances with the new signings like Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu also making a clear impact.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys currently sit second in the league standings with 13 points from five matches so far.
McCarthy, who has played three matches for the team this season, remained tight-lipped about their league ambitions. He stated that their primary goal is to pick up the maximum points from each upcoming match.
“It [the chance of winning the league] can be the air that’s going around but are we breathing it? Are we breathing that oxygen?” he asked, speaking to the media.
“But honestly, we’re breathing in the three points, game by game, you know that air. We want that, to take it game by game.
“The season is long, we still have CAF [Confederation Cup], Nedbank [Cup] and Black Label [Carling Knockout Cup]. All these other games have to be played.
“Yeah, so the objective is game by game.”
