A painful reminder has silver linings

Posted on February 12, 2026

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at a painful recent disappointment and how there are always silver linings.

Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup exit isn’t the end of the world

Now’s not the time for Chiefs fans to bemoan a cup loss; it’s the moment to be dreaming of a league title. Fans of all big clubs around the globe are all a bit spoiled, so Chiefs supporters aren’t unique in that regard. With the club’s long trophy drought ending last term, there’s no longer desperation on that front either. Yes, perhaps the manner of the defeat to a former boss, Gavin Hunt, can sting. Yes, you shouldn’t be hogging 62% of the possession and failing to create proper chances, and yes, it sucks to be dumped out of a tournament you won less than 12 months ago. However, there’s light at the end of this particular tunnel.

What’s ahead for Kaizer Chiefs in February?

The Glamour Boys are on a stunning run of six consecutive clean sheets across all competitions, which has seen them emerge as genuine title contenders for Orlando Pirates. If they can win all of these fixtures, they’ll keep themselves in contention as we reach the business end of the campaign.
