Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has insisted his side need to focus on themselves and make sure they perform at their best despite the noise around Mamelodi Sundowns at the moment.
Sundowns enter the game on the back of their elimination from the MTN8 final, while there have also been a lot of transfer noise, with players such as Lucas Ribeiro, Kutlwano Lethlaku and Khuliso Mudau linked with exits.
Amid suggestions there is no better time to face Sundowns, Kaze insisted his side need to be at their best if they want to keep their own 100% start record going.
“People may think that [it’s a good time], but in the end you have to do your job, you have to perform well on the field,” he replied when asked by iDiski Times.
“It doesn’t matter the context of or the circumstances of the opponent, but you still have to perform well on the field.
“And don’t forget you are playing against the last seven-time champions, and I don’t think that those kind of teams are troubled that easily.
“That’s why we’ve been talking and working for our players to not rely on the outside – not issues because there is no issues – but words that they are hearing from outside.
“We have to perform and be on our best in every second and every minute on Wednesday.”
