Kaizer Chiefs edge closer to CAF football with another win
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Kaizer Chiefs have further cemented their third place spot, hitting 42 points from 22 matches, a position that currently secures CAF Confederation Cup qualification for next season.

That victory also makes it four wins in a row, a clear sign of growing rhythm and confidence at a key stage of the season.

It wasn’t a fast start, with both sides taking a cautious approach early on. The first 15 minutes were slow, with both teams well organised and not giving much away. There were no real chances or shots on target as the game took time to open up.

KAIZER CHIEFS TAKE CONTROL AT THE RIGHT TIME

Amakhosi slowly grew into the game and began to take control, moving the ball better and spending more time in the final third. Their breakthrough came in the 34th minute.

Mduduzi Shabalala delivered a good cross into the box and Flavio Da Silva rose well to head home, giving Amakhosi a deserved lead after building pressure.

From there, Kaizer Chiefs looked more comfortable. They dominated possession and territory, but just lacked that final pass or finish to kill the game before halftime.

TS Galaxy tried to stay in it, but struggled to really trouble the Kaizer Chiefs defence.

LILEPO SEALS IT IN STYLE FOR AMAKHOSI

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Chiefs in control but still needing that second goal to feel safe.

It eventually came in the 74th minute, and it was all about individual quality. Glody Lilepo showed great pace on the counter, pushed past the last defender Veluyeke Zulu, and kept his composure as goalkeeper Ira Tape came out. He opened his body and calmly curled the ball home to make it 2-0.

From there, Kaizer Chiefs managed the game well and never really looked like letting it slip. Up next is Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday 15 March.

The result sees Amakhosi continue their strong run of form, while TS Galaxy are left searching for answers after another tough outing on the road.
