Former defender Hilton Jordaan believes a club of Sundowns’ size and resources should be doing more, and more consistently.
Kabo Yellow reached the last four for a fourth straight season after overcoming Stade Malien, but not without questions around their performance.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS EXPECTED TO DOMINATE
“It’s a good result for Sundowns what happened yesterday against Stade Malien, they were lucky but it’s a good result,” Jordaan told KickOff.

“I think Stade Malien were the better team in the second leg, and Sundowns were playing with 10 men so I think they can count themselves very lucky to be in the semi-final.
“We can complain about the hot weather but it’s the same for the other team. It’s the same temperature, same ball, and the same grass. People can mourn as much as they want to. And they are getting paid big money so they have to adapt. If you’re getting paid big bucks you’ve got to perform.”
Jordaan didn’t hold back, insisting that conditions cannot be used as an excuse at this level.
BIG EXPECTATIONS
“If they go all the way it would be brilliant, but it’s gonna be hard. All four remaining teams got a chance now, but they have to play better at home Sundowns.
“You expect Sundowns to play the final every season because they have a strong financial backing and a big squad. They should get to the Champions League final every year.
“They’ve got the money behind them. You look overseas, big teams are always the ones winning the league. That’s because they’ve got the financial backing.”
For Sundowns, reaching the semi-finals is no longer enough, the pressure now is to finish the job.
