4th Orlando Pirates player joins Chippa United

Posted on January 5, 2026

Orlando Pirates have been typically decisive in these opening days of the January transfer window.

The Sea Robbers have announced the signing of Andre De Jong from Stellenbosch FC, while also confirming Sinoxolo Kwayiba’s exit to Chippa United.

Much has been said about Orlando Pirates’ close business relationship with the Chilli Boys of the Eastern Cape. Kwayiba’s transfer has just become further proof.

Looking back at the 2025 June-July transfer window, the Sea Robbers sent three other players to the same club.

The 25-year-old midfielder Goodman Mosele made a loan move to Chippa, together with Malian midfielder Abdoulaye S Mariko (23). The third transfer was the 23-year-old attacking midfielder Azola Tshobeni.

Full list of Orlando Pirates players to Chippa United this season:

  1. Goodman Mosele – loan
  2. Abdoulaye S. Mariko – loan
  3. Azola Tshobeni – permanent
  4. Sinoxolo Kwayiba – permanent.

ORLANDO PIRATES’ FLYING START TO THE 2025/26 SEASON

Despite the shock CAF Champions League exit at the hands of St Eloi-Lupopo, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side has been walking on water this term.

They are currently top of the league with 28 points from 12 matches. The status includes a game in hand ahead of the second-place Mamelodi Sundowns, who are on 26 points.

Under the French-Moroccan, Orlando Pirates have bagged nine wins, one draw and two defeats.

Ouaddou’s side have found the net 18 times while conceding just five goals, leaving them with a healthy +13 goal difference.

A six-match winning streak in the league has strengthened their position in the title race, keeping them ahead of rivals Sundowns.

Orlando Pirates have also added silverware to their season. Both the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup are in the trophy cabinet at Mayfair.

According to the Premier Soccer League’s schedule, their next showdown will be away to Eric Tinkler’s feisty Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 24 January at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
