18 players yet to play this season

Kaizer Chiefs’ rebuild under Nasreddine Nabi has created something the club has been crying out for in recent years: competition for places.

With 11 new signings and a core of trusted regulars, Amakhosi suddenly have a squad where no jersey is guaranteed, and it’s showing in selection.

So far this season, 18 Kaizer Chiefs players have not kicked a ball, not because of poor quality, but largely because the bar has been raised in every department.

KAIZER CHIEFS SQUAD DEPTH

Of course, injuries have also played their part. Msimango, Rushwin Dortley, and Etiosa Ighodaro are all sidelined, while Khanyisa Mayo is still awaiting his clearance from Algerian club CR Belouizdad.

Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi are also involved in a legal dispute with their former club, Cape Town Spurs, which has delayed their Kaizer Chiefs debuts.

The bigger story, however, is that Nabi now has a squad that can rotate across the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout, and Nedbank Cup without losing quality.

Kaizer Chiefs fans have long complained about a lack of firepower and creativity off the bench. This season, that problem seems to have been solved.

Here’s the full list of Amakhosi players yet to feature this season:

  • Karabo Molefe
  • Fiacre Ntwari
  • Bruce Bvuma
  • Dillan Solomons
